Results of 2015 Judicial Candidates Poll Released
LOUISVILLE – The November 3 ballot will include 21 candidates seeking election to an open seat in Jefferson District Court. The candidate with the highest vote total will win the right to serve out the unexpired term of Judge Michele Stengel who retired earlier this year.
The Louisville Bar Association’s Judicial Candidates Poll is designed to let voters know what local attorneys think about the qualifications of those seeking judicial office. The LBA disseminated the poll electronically to approximately 4,600 members of the Kentucky Bar Association working and/or residing in Jefferson County. Those who have had substantial professional contact with one or more of the candidates were asked to rate their fitness to serve as a district court judge. 768 attorneys – more than 16 percent – responded to the poll.
The results, which may be viewed at www.loubar.org, were tabulated by BallotBox Online and are in no way an endorsement of any candidate by the LBA, its officers, directors or staff.
The Judicial Candidates Poll has been conducted by the LBA since 1982. The intent of the poll is to help voters evaluate candidates for judicial office. Because judges are different from other elected officials, and often unknown to the general public, the poll assists in providing reliable information about the candidates’ qualifications as determined by their professional colleagues.
