ROCKET DOCKET – EXPEDITED APPOINTMENT DATES
Starting in November, the Probate Judges of Jefferson County are offering a rocket docket for appointments of fiduciaries to ease the congestion currently on the docket. The initial scheduled dates for the dockets will be as follows:
November 18th – Judge Garvey
10AM – 25 scheduled slots
11AM – 25 scheduled slots
December 9th – Judge Moore
10AM – 25 scheduled slots
11AM – 25 scheduled slots

To be eligible for the rocket docket, appointments must be self-proving wills and not contested.

This is for newly opened estates ONLY – any previously scheduled cases are not eligible and cannot be advanced to the rocket docket (*Counsel is still permitted to contact the judges for emergency circumstances of advancing court dates)

ORIGINAL Will and all supporting documents for appointment MUST be filed two days in advance of court date.

All other appointments will be given the standard date for probate motion hours.

Any petitions that are lacking information or are incorrect will be sent back to the clerk’s office. There, attorneys will have to ask for future motion hour date.

Attorneys must request the rocket docket availability with the Clerk’s office in order to get a rocket docket date.

FORM CHANGE

Starting January 1, 2022 all Petitions for Appointment using form AOC-805 must also include form AOC-806 “Order Probating Will & Appointing Executor/Executrix” along with the filing of the original Petition. Page 3 of form AOC-805 will no longer suffice as the official order probating the will and appointing the fiduciary.

Further, form AOC-840 “Order Appointing Fiduciary” must be included for the administration of an intestate estate along with the form AOC-805 Petition.
