Statement from LBA President Deena Ombres Condemning Recent Anti-Asian Attacks
March 19, 2021
The Louisville Bar Association condemns the acts of violence and discrimination against Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Georgia this week and the prior incidents that have occurred across the country within the past year. Unwarranted xenophobia, hate crimes, harassment and discrimination have no place in our modern society. We must do better to promote and implement inclusion of all persons, regardless of their race, ethnicity or religious affiliation.
We are at a crisis point when it comes to the divisiveness within our country. As attorneys sworn to uphold the laws of our Commonwealth and our country, we must lead and take the steps available to us to prevent discrimination, harassment and hate crimes against not only our AAPI neighbors but also for all of our racially, ethnically and religiously diverse community members.
