Earlier this month the LBA challenged its members to participate in Mayor Greg Fischer’s Give a Day week of service through its 4th annual “Lawyers Care” initiative. The initiative helps demonstrate that lawyers are compassionate members of the community, and because we know this to be true, we want to give credit where credit is due!
Thank you to the following individuals and firms for taking time out of your busy schedules for the benefit of those in need:
Dinsmore & Shohl attorneys gave 10 hours shopping for toiletries, donating to women’s shelters and reading to third graders as part of the Real Men Read program.
Stites & Harbison attorneys donated over 50 hours to a variety of projects, including serving on boards, coaching basketball at Nativity Academy, working on a Habitat for Humanity project, and donating items to Goodwill.
Holly Houston served as a guest bartender at 8UP Elevated Drinkery & Kitchen, raising $1,000 for Doctors & Lawyers for Kids.
Project HELP (Homeless Experience Legal Project) continues to serve the homeless population with twice monthly clinics. Two attorneys donate two hours at each clinic plus many more hours are donated to resolving legal issues.
The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney narcotics prosecution unit sent seven people to participate in St. Baldrick’s, raising more $12,000 -- and they even have the bald heads to prove it!
