The annual Summer Law Institute (SLI), sponsored by the LBA, University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and Bellarmine University—with a generous grant from the Louisville Bar Foundation—was held June 15-21 on the University of Louisville campus. In addition, Dinsmore & Shohl and Stoll Keenon Ogden graciously helped support scholarships for students who could not otherwise attend.
The program is open to high school students interested in the law and legal careers. Students participate in panel discussions, attend seminars, tour the courthouse and present a mock trial. The 2014 class was made up of 32 students from 14 schools, both public and private, from Jefferson and surrounding counties.
The following attorneys and judges volunteered during the week and provided invaluable information to these aspiring lawyers. Special recognition must go to judges Brian C. Edwards and Joan A. Stringer who presided over the mock trials on Saturday. We could not have done it without them.
James R. Wagoner, Fogle Keller Purdy—the mastermind behind the entire week and without him, there would be no camp.
